Employment Equity Newsletter #1 As a designated employer, we as company have various obligations in terms of the Employment Equity Act 55 f 1998 (the EEA). Therefore, during the last few weeks, we have embarked on a process to comply with these requirements, one f which is to inform you, our employees of our obligations and your rights in terms of the EEA. The purpose of the EEA is mainly to achieve equity ad equality in the workplace. This is achieved by promoting equal opportunity for all our employees and to eliminate unfair discrimination. We also strive to culture an environment where we have mutual respect for each other and where all our employees have a safe working environment where they can freely participate without the fear of discrimination or retribution. For that purpose, we have appointed an Employment Equity Committee that will be trained and will work toward the goals as set out above. These members of the Committee will represent the employees at the committee meetings and it is important that you know who they are and what they will be doing at these meetings. You will also, from time to time, be consulted about EE information or given feedback about what happened at those meetings and it is important that you understand that these feedback sessions or the request for input plays a vital role in assisting all of us to comply with our obligations and also to ensure that you, our employees, reap the benefits thereof.
